#3: Birthdays

Happy Birthday to me! Today I turn 35, which puts me closer to 40 than 30. Additionally, as the terrific site Wait But Why pointed out, after Monday my birth will be closer to the 1940s than present day 🙀:

While part of that is terrifying, I actually feel better about turning 35 than I did about turning 30. When I turned 30, I worried about all of the things that I hadn’t accomplished and that I thought I would have by that time (like finishing my Ph.D.). Now, I still have strong episodes of imposter syndrome, but I believe I’m finally beginning to erode some of the Resistance and build systems in place such that while I may not be where I thought I would be, I’m extremely optimistic for where I will be when I turn 40.

I have a ‘Life is Long’ philosophy that I will elaborate on in a later post, but today I would just like to express gratitude to all of my friends and family and take a little time to enjoy the day.

Also, in part of my ‘baby steps’ habit process, I updated the ‘About’ section on the blog. Plan is to have a nice format that I am proud of by the end of the month.
