#30: Personal Website

Well my plan had been to have a personal website figured out by today, but it is taking a bit longer than I wanted. I decided to follow Thomas Frank’s website building guide and it has been tremendously helpful for figuring out many of the elements.

When I first made this blog, I created it on WordPress.com, which is predominately for blogging. But since it limits you from things like plug-ins until higher pay tiers, and I wanted an excuse to learn a little programming, I opted to use the open-source WordPress.org platform on an externally hosted site for my personal website. (I think I got all of that technical jargon correct.) I’ve take some notes of a variety of personal websites (I like the style of Matthew Walker’s, who wrote Why We Sleep), but I’m still in the process of figuring out my own style.

Today we are heading to Rincón de la Vieja and we won’t be back until after my daily deadline, so I will just call it a work in progress at leave this post a little FBR. But over the next few weeks, I’ll keep working on petervoyvodic.com.
